A block away from my house is the famous Laduree , the mecca for macarons. Before the Paris attacks, the lines used to turn the block. Nowadays the city is much emptier and there are no lines, but if you go to their Madison Avenue location, the lines are there.
Walking around Saint Germain des Pres, I came about a most wonderful looking macaron shop with bright colors and inventive flavors. I fell in love with its displays of vegetable macarons. The beautiful hues and air of freshness were captivating. They are the work of Chef Yannick Lefort who I had the pleasure to meet. His shop is a place to be adventurous and forget the traditional flavors. Go for the carrots and pea macarons and any of the other unique flavors you will not find elsewhere. After all, you are in Paris to be amazed! Mon Macaron a Moi is at 62 rue de Seine.
